Tesla has ramped up EV infrastructure with a new supercharger station at the Everest base camp at Tingri, Tibet, according to Benzinga. The move is part of efforts to scale up supercharger stations amid an increase in competition.
At the beginning of March, Tesla installed 6,000 supercharger stations in China, seeking competitive authority over local rivals including Nio and Xpeng.
The electric carmaker’s supercharging stations globally jumped by 2,699, or 41% year over year at the end of first quarter
Tesla had also installed 24,515 individual connectors by the end of Q1, a 44% year over year jump.
Tesla now has installed 25,000 supercharger stations worldwide even as the company predicts China to become its largest market ahead of the current U.S.
