Samsung Grows Revenues by 6% In the First Quarter Amid Chip Shortages

Samsung Electronics had revenue of KRW 65.39 trillion in Q121, a record 6% jump from the previous quarter, according to the company’s press release. Operating profit gained 4% from the previous quarter to KRW 9.38 trillion on solid sales of consumer electronics and smartphones.

Semiconductor business had revenue of KRW 19.01 trillion and KRW 3.37 trillion operating profit in Q1.

Display Panel Business had revenues of KRW 6.92 trillion and an operating profit of KRW 0.36 trillion in Q1.

IT & Mobile Communications Division recorded revenue of KRW 29.21 trillion and an operating profit of KRW 4.39 trillion in Q1.

Consumer Electronics recorded revenue of KRW 12.99 trillion and operating profit of KRW 1.12 trillion in Q1.

Samsung expects more earnings in the semiconductor business in the second quarter on memory market recovery.
