Construction Output Jumps in the Euro Area and EU in September

Production in the construction sector in the euro area rose by 0.9% in September from August, while in the EU, it increased by 1.2%. DAX is up 0.11%, EURUSD is up 0.04%.

  • The uptick in construction output happens after it fell by 1.4% and 1.8% in the euro area and EU, respectively in August.
  • Civil engineering output rose by 2.6% in the euro area in September from August, as building construction improved by 0.9%. Civil engineering rose by 2.0% in the EU, while building construction was up by 1.2% in the same period. 
  • The largest monthly increases in construction output were recorded in Slovenia, Sweden, and Hungary. Declines were posted the highest in Romania, Slovakia, and Poland.
  • Compared to last year, construction output rose in the euro area by 1.5% and 1.8% in the EU in September.
