Biden to End Ban on Trump-Era Immigration Policies on Temporary Foreign Workers

U.S President Joe Biden will allow a proclamation that blocked many temporary foreign workers from coming into the U.S to expire on Wednesday, according to Reuters. The directive on temporary foreign workers was issued by Donald Trump to protect American workers from high unemployment during the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump first issued his directive on temporary foreign workers in June 2020 and renewed it through March 31 before leaving office.

Many U.S businesses sued in July to overturn Trump’s temporary ban

In October, a California-based federal judge blocked Trump’s policy since it applied to thousands of U.S businesses with membership in the associations that had sued.

Last month, Biden revoked a proclamation that blocked many applicants for permanent residency, known as a green card, from entering the U.S.

Biden has already rolled back many of former president Trump’s immigration policies since taking office on January 20.
