Chewy Plunges 13% After Swinging Into $63.6M Net Loss in Q4 2021

(Chewy) Shares of Chewy fell 13% as it reported a net loss of $63.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2021, compared to a net income of $21.05 million in the prior year.

For FY21, Chewy loss narrowed to $73.82 million, compared to a loss of $92.49 million in the prior year.

The company’s adjusted EBITDA was reported at a loss of $28.12 million, compared to an income of $60.75 million in the previous year. FY21 EBITDA was $78.55 million, down from $85.16 million in the prior year. 

Despite the fall in the fourth-quarter earnings, Chewy said that its net sales reached $2.39 billion, up 17% from the prior year. FY21 net sales were $8.89 billion, up 24% from the prior year.
