VanEck BTC Futures ETF to Debut on CBOE on Nov. 16 Amid Rejection of Spot ETF

(CBOE) Chicago Board Options Exchange has announced that VanEck bitcoin futures ETF will start trading on the exchange on November 16.

The ETF will trade under the symbol “XBTF” starting at 9:30 AM Eastern Time.

The debut comes days after the US Securities and Exchange Commission rejected VanEck’s Spot Bitcoin ETF. ECK cited concerns of investor protection in rejecting the spot ETF.

The SEC has been more willing to approve futures-based ETFs since they are, to some extent, covered by the existing regulations. It approved the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF as the first in October.

More futures ETFs are expected as the SEC is currently reviewing multiple applications. The VanEck ETF was approved last month after the ProShares ETF.

BTCUSD is up +0.67%.
