US Trade Deficit Widens Further by 6.7% as Imports Surge More than Exports

(Census Bureau) US importation of goods and services increased by 2.1% in June to $283.4 billion, pushing overall trade deficits up by 6.7% to $75.7 billion.

Exports rose by a lower 0.6% in June to hit $207.7 billion.

Goods deficit increased by $4.0 billion to $93.2 billion, while services surplus fell by $0.7 billion to $17.4 billion in June.

Year-to-date trade deficit rose by 46.4% or $135.8 billion from the comparable period of 2020.

On a three-month moving average, the trade deficit rose by $0.2 billion to $71.9 billion.

On a year over year basis, the trade deficit rose by $19.1 billion in the last three months.
