US Producer Prices Jumps by 0.8% In February to the Highest Annual Record

(Bureau of Labor Statistics) Wholesale prices rose again in February, soaring by 0.8% after another 1.2% gain in January 2022.

In the twelve months that ended in February, the producer prices jumped by 10.0%, the highest gain on record.

The advance in producer prices in February reflected a 2.4% gain in the costs for final demand goods, the largest gain since the start of the series data in December 2009. The index for final demand services remained stable. 

Less volatile food, energy, and trade services, producer prices increased by 0.2% in February, lower than a gain of 0.8% in January. The index was up 6.6% for the 12 months that ended in February.
