Euro Area and EU Post Increases in Construction Output in February

(Eurostat) Production in construction improved by a monthly 1.9% in the euro area in February, while it also posted gains of 1.1% in the EU.

The gains in construction output in February happened after a higher gain of 3.9% and 3.7% in the euro area and EU, respectively, in January.

Building construction posted the strongest gains, with an increase of 2.0% in February, while civil engineering rose by 1.4%. In the EU, building construction rose by 1.3%, while civil engineering increased by 1.1%. 

Construction production rose the highest in Hungary, Slovenia, and Austria. Declines were highest in Sweden and Poland, while Germany saw marginal 0.7% declines.

Compared to the previous year, construction output saw an increase of 9.4% in February in the euro area and 8.6% in the EU.

DAX is down -1.85%, EURUSD is down -0.47%.
