(FT) The Pentagon is expected to host a meeting on Wednesday with eight largest defense contractors in the US for more weapons to Ukraine soldiers battling Russian invasion.
Some of the arm makers expected in the meeting are Lockheed Martin, L3 Technologies, and Raytheon Technologies.
The US is also seeking to enable the transfer of longer-range anti-aircraft systems and other weapons to Ukraine, as Moscow prepares a new phase of war in the Donbas region.
A US defense official said that they will discuss proposals for production of existing and new systems, as well as modernized capabilities in aid to Ukraine and the American allies or partner forces.
The official said that the US has been in “almost daily communication with key industry partners” for arm replenishment to Ukraine.
The US move adds to other security assistance it has provided to Ukraine to fight the Russian invasion. It has offered more than $1.7 billion in security aid to Ukraine since February when Russia attacked.
