EIA Reports a 9.4M Surge in US Crude Oil Inventories

(EIA) US stockpiles of crude inventories were 421.8 million barrels in the week that ended April 8, an increase of 9.4 million barrels from the previous week.

The rising inventories come even as crude imports fell by 305,000 barrels per day last week to an average of 6.0 million bpd. The imports were at an average of 6.3 million bpd in the past four weeks, 4.9% higher than the same period last year.

Refinery inputs declined by 424,000 bpd to an average of 15.5 million bpd in the week to April 8, with refineries operating at 90.0% capacity.

Overall, the total products supplied over the past four weeks were 19.9 million bpd, an increase of 1.3% compared to the same period of last year.
