US Crude Inventories Decline by 3.4M Barrels, Imports Also Fall

(EIA) The total commercial crude oil inventories in the US was recorded at 409.9 million barrels in the week that ended March 25, down by 3.4 million barrels from the prior week.

The inventories of motor gasoline rose by 0.8 million barrels to hit a level at par with the five-year average. Distillate fuel inventories rose by 1.4 million barrels to remain 16% below its five-year average.

The crude oil imports fell by 227,000 barrels per day in the week to March 25 to an average of 6.3 million bpd. The imports averaged 6.4 million bpd in the past four weeks, an increase of 11.9% from the prior year.

The total refinery inputs improved by 35,000 bpd to average 15.9 million bpd in the week, with refineries operating at 92.1% capacity.

Over the past four weeks, the total products supplied were at an average of 20.7 million bpd, an increase of 8.1% from the previous year.
