UK Unemployment Edges 0.2% Down as Labor Market Recoveries Continue

(ONS) UK unemployment rate during the October to December 2021 period was estimated at 4.1%, a decline of 0.2% from the previous quarter.

Following the decline, unemployment is now only 0.1% higher than the levels before the pandemic. 

The fall in unemployment helped the employment rate climb 0.1% to 75.5% in the quarter. The employment rate is now 1.0% below the pre-pandemic period.

The total hours worked rose marginally from the previous quarter but are still below the levels before the pandemic.

The economic inactivity rate increased by 0.1% in the quarter to 21.2%. The rate is 1.0% higher than the levels before the pandemic.
