(ONS) UK gross domestic product increased by 0.4% in August, more than a surge of 0.1% the previous month. The GDP is now 0.8% below the levels before the coronavirus in February 2020.
Services output expanded by 0.3%, while consumer-facing services were up by 1.2%. All other services increased by 0.1%.
Production output rose by 0.8%, reflecting increased crude and natural gas extraction after the temporary closure.
Construction output was down by 0.2%, pushing the sector to 1.5% below its pre-pandemic level.
