UK Annual Inflation Growth Eases to 3.1% in September But Fuel Prices Remain High

(ONS) The UK annual inflation growth eased to 3.1% in September from 3.2% in August. Including owner occupier’s housing growth, CPI eased to 2.9% from 3% in the prior month.

CPIH, CPI, and OOH indices

The Consumer Price Index rose by 0.3% in September 2021, in contrast to 0.4% in the same month last year. 

Restaurants and hotels made the largest contribution to the annual CPIH fall, dropping to 0.34% from 0.65% in the prior month. 

The transport sector contributed 0.91% to CPIH, driven by the high motor fuels prices. 

Housing and household services prices contributed 0.69% to the annual CPIH, up from 0.65% in August.
