(Plug Power) Plug Power has announced a deal with Edison Motors for manufacturing and the debut of a hydrogen-powered electric city bus in the first half of 2023.
The companies are expected to come up with a prototype of the electric city bus in the second half of next year that will be equipped with Plug Power’s 125 kW ProGen fuel cell system.
Edison Motors is expected to produce the hydrogen fuel cell buses dubbed SMART 110F that will be sold in the South Korean market.
Edison Motors Chairman Young-Kwon Kang says the partnership is just the start of a cooperation between the two companies and seeks to partner on related mobility solutions in the future, including drones, PAVs, vessels, and trucks.
Plug Power CEO Andy Marsh says the company aims to stimulate the fast-growing hydrogen mobility solutions in the Asian market. The partnership is also expected to help in the transition to global net-zero emissions.
Plug Power, which is the largest liquid hydrogen buyer, has deployed at least 50,000 fuel cell systems globally.
