Personal data of over 533 million Facebook users from 106 countries have been exposed in a hacking attack, according to Business Insider. The data includes phone numbers, Facebook IDs, full names, locations, birth-dates, bios, and email addresses.
The leaked data provides valuable information to cybercriminals who could use people’s personal information to impersonate or scam them.
A Facebook spokesperson said the data was scraped due to the vulnerability that the company patched in 2019.
Facebook has in the past vowed to crack down on mass data-scraping after Cambridge Analytica scraped the data of 80 million users to target users with political ads in the 2016 election.Facebook stock is slightly down on premarket. FB: NASDAQ is down 0.05%
