Nokia sought to enforce an injunction on Tuesday against Lenovo for sales of its products in Germany, citing violation of the video encoding patent, according to Reuters. Nokia alleges that Lenovo has been reluctant to enter negotiations and resolve the matter by accepting responsibilities and agreeing on license under fair terms.
- A Munich Court ruled on September 30 that Lenovo infringed Nokia’s patents, ordering an injunction and recall of the company products from retailers.
- Nokia launched a lawsuit against Lenovo last year over alleged infringement of 20 patents and has ongoing cases against the latter in the U.S., Brazil, and India.
- Lenovo has appealed the Munich ruling asserting that “Nokia has violated its own legal obligations by refusing to license its technology on Fair Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) terms to either Lenovo or our third-party suppliers”-Lenovo Statement.
