The Japanese-owned Nippon Gases cautioned that the market for gas and electricity futures was likely to be affected by the crisis.
The warnings come when the surge in prices of natural gases has led to the closure of fertilizer plants, which is the main source of carbon dioxide for industrial use.
Nippon Gases estimates that its supplies have dropped by half across Europe. The gas distributor sold almost $1.5 billion worth of industrial gases last year in the continent.
Carbonic Solutions, A Dutch supplier of carbon dioxide in the UK from biogas plants, also said that its operations had been affected by the lack of special equipment to distribute the gas.
