(CoinTelegraph) The number of crypto owners grew significantly last year, with nearly 50% of all owners worldwide purchasing cryptocurrencies for the first time last year.
Gemini, a crypto exchange, surveyed around 30,000 respondents in 20 countries between November 2021 and February 2022 to provide an expanding crypto ecosystem.
The survey found that crypto adoption surged in 2021 in nations such as Brazil, India, and Hong Kong as more than 50% of respondents began investing in crypto in 2021.
The proportion of respondents who started investing in crypto in 2021 was 54% in India and 51% in Brazil and Hong Kong.
In Latin America (LATAM) and the Asia Pacific (APAC), respondents also actively purchased crypto in 2021, with 46% in LATAM and 45% in APAC buying their first crypto in 2021.
44% of survey respondents in the United States and 40% in Europe began investing in 2021.
