(Meta) Meta has come up with an “AI Research SuperCluster,” which the company says will be key in its pursuit of the metaverse.
Meta claims that the RSC will be the world’s fastest supercomputer and is set to become fully operational in mid-2022.
The company says the work put into building the RSC will pave the way for other technologies for the AI-driven metaverse.
Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg says building the metaverse will need significant computing power, and the RSC will give rise to AI models that can understand numerous languages and learn from trillions of examples.
Camilla Russo, a Decentralized finance analyst, compares Meta’s RSC to the Ethereum network, which is equated to a “supercomputer.” He says the company’s move seeks to monetize users’ data in the metaverse, unlike the Ethereum network, which allows users to have control of their data.
