Kroger Issues FY21 Guidance as Sales in the Third Quarter Hit $31.9 Billion

(Kroger) Kroger reported sales of $31.9 billion in the third quarter, an increase from $29.7 billion posted in the prior year.

The company’s identical sales, excluding fuels, rose by 3.1% from the prior year, while two-year stack digital sales were up by 103%.

In the third quarter, Kroger reported earnings per share of $0.64, a decline from $0.80 posted in the previous year. Adjusted EPS improved from $0.71 to $0.78 in the same period.

Operating profit was reported at $868 million, increasing from $792 million in the prior year.

The company repurchased $297 million shares in the third quarter, taking total buybacks year-to-date to $1 billion shares. 

Kroger now projects two-year identical sales tack to range between 13.7% and 13.9% in FY21. Adjusted net EPS is expected within the range of $3.40 and $3.50 for the full year.
