Kroger Jumps 10% as Sales Hit $33 Billion in Q4 2021, Upgrades Guidance

(Kroger) Kroger Co. stock rose more than 10% on Thursday after reporting sales of $33.0 billion in the fourth quarter of 2021, up from $30.7 billion in the prior year. 

For FY21, Kroger said its revenue hit $137.9 billion, an increase from $132.5 billion in the prior year.

In the fourth quarter, Kroger reported net earnings of $566 million, up compared to a loss of $77 billion in the previous year. FY21 net earnings were $1.655 billion, down from $2.59 billion in the prior year.

Kroger says that identical sales without fuel rose by 4.0% in the fourth quarter, while the two-year stack improved by 14.6%.  Identical sales in FY21 improved by 0.2%, with two-year stack up 14.3%.

The company guided an identical sales increase without fuel in the range of 2.0% to 3.0%.

Adjusted EPS is expected in the range of $3.75 to $3.85 in FY22 from $3.69 in FY21.
