Kroger Grows Identical Sales by 4.1% as Q1 2022 Results Beat Estimates

(Kroger) Kroger reported a 4.1% increase in identical sales, without fuel, in the first quarter of 2022. The increase compares to a decline of a similar margin in the prior year.

The company’s adjusted earnings per share came at $1.45. The per-share earnings beat estimates of $1.28 and were higher than $1.19 per share in the prior year.  

The retailer’s operating profit was $1.51 billion, compared to $805 million in the prior year.

The company’s sales for the quarter came at $44.6 billion, an increase from $41.3 billion in the prior year. The sales beat estimates of $43.05 billion.

Following a robust quarter, Kroger said it expects an EPS of $3.85 to $3.95 in FY22. The earnings are an increase from $3.75 to $3.85 per share in FY21.
