(Department of Labor) US jobless claims were 205,000 for the week that ended December 18, the same as the previous week and the expected level.
The jobless claims on a four-week moving average rose by 2,750 to 206,250.
Continuing claims declined by 8,000 to mark the lowest level since March 2020 of 1.859 million. The claims were 1.92 million on a four-week moving average, down by 49,000.
The initial claims under various state programs fell by 4.4% or 11,686, to 254,006 total. The decline was almost similar to the expected 11,745.
The initial claims rose the highest in Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Nebraska, and Tennessee. Declines were posted the highest in New York, North Carolina, Texas, Wisconsin, and Oregon.
