(Department of Labor) US Jobless claims fell by 26,000 to reach a new pandemic low and expected level of 360,000 for the week that ended July 10.
The jobless claims were the lowest since March 14, 2020. Previous level jobless claims were revised up by 13,000 to 386,000.
Jobless claims on a four-week moving average were 382,500, a decline of 14,500 from the previous week. The average jobless claims were the lowest since March 14, 2020.
Continuing claims totaled 3.241 million, down 126,000 from the previous week. The continuing claims were the lowest since March 21, 2020.
Total claims under state programs reached 383,166 after an increase of 0.1% from the previous week. The increase in claims under state programs was lower than expected, 6.9%.
Jobless claims rose the highest in Puerto Rico, Pennsylvania, New York, Texas, and California. Claims fell the highest in Oklahoma, Massachusetts, Washington, Connecticut, and Virginia.
