Hong Kong Exchange Trading Halted as Severe Storm Surge

Hong Kong Exchange canceled morning trading session after storm signal 8 was reported, according to press release. Trading for the day will be canceled if typhoon 8 or stronger signal continues up to noon.

  • Typhoon 8 signals extreme conditions calling for the cancellation of the trading session, and if it continues above 9 am, morning session will remain closed
  • If the typhoon signal is lowered to below 8 at or before noon, Hong Kong Exchange securities and derivatives markets will resume afternoon trading 
  • If there was trading before warning issuance, trading will continue until the market close
  • If there was no trading before warning issuance, trading will resume after discontinuation of the warning
