(US Department of Labor) US jobless claims rose by 37,000 to hit 412,000 for the week that ended June 12. The claims were higher than expected 360,000 and the highest this month.
Previous week’s jobless claims were revised down by 1,000 to 375,000.
On a 4-week moving average, jobless claims fell by 8,000 to 395,000. The claims were the lowest since March 14, 2020.
Continuing claims rose by 1,000 to 3.518 million. Previous continuing claims were revised up by 18,000 to 3.517 million.
Unadjusted claims under state programs recorded a 10.2% gain to a level of 402,352.
Illinois, Ohio, Delaware, and Tennessee recorded the highest jumps in jobless claims. The highest declines in jobless claims were noted Pennsylvania, California, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Jersey.
