Jobless Claims Fall but Remain Above 400,000 for a Consecutive Week

(Department of Labor) US jobless claims plunged by 7,000 for the week that ended June 19 to hit 411,000.

Previous week’s jobless claims were revised by up 6,000 to 418,000.

Jobless claims on a 4-week moving average rose by 1,500 to hit 397,750.

Continuing claims declined by 144,000 to hit 3.39 million. The continuing claims were the lowest since March 21, 2020.

Unadjusted total claims under state programs decreased by 3.6% to hit 393,078.

Pennsylvania, California, Kentucky, Florida, and Texas recorded the largest jumps in initial claims.

Michigan, Delaware, Washington, Tennessee, and Alabama recorded the largest declines in initial claims.
