(Department of Labor) US jobless claims for the week that ended November 13 was 268,000, down by 1,000 from the previous week. The claims missed an expected 260,000.
The jobless claims now approach March 14, 2020, with lows of 256,000 in the latest decline. On a four-week moving average, jobless claims fell by 5,750 to 272,750.
Continuing claims declined by 129,000 to 2.08 million. On a four-week moving average, continuing claims plunged by 100,000 to 2.157 million.
The initial claims posted under state programs totaled 238,850, a decline of 7.1% or 18,183 from the previous week. The decrease was a higher than the expected fall of 6.6% or 17,068.
Advance insured unemployment rate stood at 1.3% in the week ending November 6, down by 0.1% from the previous week.
Jobless claims rose the highest in Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Illinois, and Michigan. The claims fell the largest in California, District of Columbia, and Louisiana.
