(CryptoPotato) AMC theatres will start accepting Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash as payments, expanding options beyond Bitcoin.
Litecoin reacted to AMC’s announcement, gaining 6% to reach $192, while Ethereum surged by 8% to a weakly high of above $3,650. Bitcoin Cash posted no change over the past 24 hours.
Other cryptocurrencies surged, with Uniswap up 8%, Avalanche 18%, while Polygon’s MATIC posted an 8% gain. The crypto industry gained 3% of total market value after the surge.
AMC started accepting crypto payments on August 9, promising to accept Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash. The movie theatre firm aims to allow more cryptos as payment methods.
AMC cites growing retail investor demand in the latest moves to allow crypto payments.
AMC’s tock has risen by about 2,242% since the start of the year. It is now trading at around $46.84, down from it’s all time high of $62.55 in early June.
