Japan’s PM Candidate Kishida Calls for Trillions of Yen Stimulus

(Reuters) Fumio Kishida, a candidate running for Japan’s prime minister position in the next election, has called for an economic stimulus running into tens of trillion yen.

Kishida’s proposal includes aid to help sectors and regions hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kishida, who also served as a foreign minister, is confident of dethroning PM Yoshihide Suga as the leader of the ruling party Liberal Democratic Party.
