Industrial Production Slows to a 1.2% Growth in the Euro Area in December

(Eurostat) Euro area posted a 1.2% expansion in industrial production in December 2021, slower than a jump of 2.4% the previous month.

Euro Area and EU Industrial Production

In the EU, industrial production expanded by 0.7% in December, also below the 2.6% expansion posted in November.

The production of capital goods led gains in the euro area at 2.6%, while in the EU, capital goods surged by 1.8%.

On a year over year basis, industrial production rose by 1.6% in the euro area in December, lower than an increase of 2.5% in the EU. 

In 2021, the average industrial production improved by 7.8% in the euro area and rose by a higher 8.2% in the EU.

The largest monthly gains in industrial production were in Ireland, Lithuania, and Luxembourg. The largest declines were in Czechia, Austria, and Italy. 

DAX is up +0.038%, EURUSD is up +0.18%.
