House Prices in the UK Falls for the First Time in 2021 as Inventory Adds Eases

(Rightmove) The average price of property coming to the UK market plunged by 0.3% or 1,076 pounds in August, the first decline this year.

The decline in property prices reflects a 0.8% or 4,699 pounds drop in the typical four-bedroom-plus and upper-end sector.

Record high home prices were still posted in first-time buyer properties, which rose 0.6% or 1,328 pounds, while second-stepper properties had a 0.3%- or 975-pounds surge in August.

Despite the fall in prices, buyer strengths are strong, with demand stats of about 56% in August compared to the same period of 2019, just 17% below post-lockdown 2020.

FTSE 100 is down -1.19%, GBPUSD is down -0.01%.
