EU Regulators Open Probe on Facebook’s Acquisition of Kustomer

(Reuters) The European Union antitrust regulators have opened a full-scale investigation of Facebook’s acquisition of US customer service startup Kustomer.

The EU antitrust regulators say the acquisition of Kustomer by Facebook may hurt competition and boost the social media’s online advertising market power.

The investigation follows regulatory concerns over a buying spree by big firms, in what has been termed as killer acquisitions aimed at closing down on rivals.

Facebook has said it will cooperate with the EU in line with the investigation.

Facebook announced the deal for Kustomer last year, as it aimed to scale up its instant messaging app WhatsApp.

FB: NASDAQ is down -0.86%.
