(Eurostat) Inflation in the European Union jumped to 4.4% in the 12 months to October, more than 3.6% recorded in the previous month. The prices rose to 4.1% in the euro area, more than 3.4% posted in the previous month.
Inflation in the euro area rose the highest among energy components at 2.21%.
Services inflation rose by 0.86%, non-energy industrial goods up 0.55%, while food, alcohol, and tobacco saw a 0.43% increase in prices.
The countries of Malta, Portugal, Finland, and Greece posted the lowest annual inflation. All the twenty-seven member states posted increases in annual inflation.
Inflation was estimated to have jumped the highest in Lithuania, Estonia, and Hungary, with the rates settling at 8.2%, 6.8%, and 6.6%, respectively.
