EIA Reports 3.4M Barrels Decline in US Crude Inventories

(EIA) The stockpiles of commercial crude oil in the US were 420.8 million barrels in the week that ended May 13, a decline of 3.4 million barrels from the previous week.

The stockpiles of motor gasoline fell by 4.8 million barrels, while distillate fuel inventories were up by 1.2 million barrels.

The crude imports saw a 299,000 barrels per day increase to hit an average of 6.6 million bpd. The imports were at an average of 6.3 million bpd over the past four weeks, an increase of 4.7% from the prior year.

The refinery inputs averaged 15.9 million bpd in the week to May 13, an increase of 239,000 bpd from the prior week. Refineries were operating at 91.8% capacity.

Over the past four weeks, total products supplied rose by 1.7% from the prior year to hit an average of 19.5 million bpd.
