eBay Broadens Digital Asset Portfolio With Acquisition of NFT Platform KnownOrigin

(eBay) E-commerce platform eBay has announced the acquisition of the nonfungible asset marketplace KnownOrigin.

eBay says the acquisition is a step toward a tech-led reimagination that enables it to become a top destination for collectables in the digital era.

The ecommerce platform celebrates KnownOrigin as a platform that has revolutionized the way people create, buy, and sell NFTs.

eBay is banking on the acquisition to enable it to become the go-to marketplace for hard-to-find digital collectables.

The acquisition of KnownOrigin highlights eBay’s forays into digital assets, having begun allowing the buying and selling of NFTs on the marketplace in May 2021.

KnownOrigin co-founder David Moore says with the growth in the popularity of NFTs, it is time to partner with a company with a lot of networks such as eBay. He says the deal will attract more NFT creators and collectors.

EBAY:NASDAQ is down -0.21%, ETHUSD is down -2.51%.
