(Bloomberg) Apple Inc. targets to produce as many as 90 million next generation iPhones this year, up about 20% from 2020 shipments.
Apple has in the past produced about 75 million iPhone units and the upgraded forecast reflects anticipation of the first iPhone launch since the massive rollout of vaccines began.

The iPhone maker could still miss the 90 million units target, although the ongoing chip shortage is unlikely to affect the production.
Apple’s projected production reports were good news to supply companies such as TSMC which gained as much as 1.3%.
