Xpeng Widens Its Loss to $185M in Q2 Amid a Record High in Quarterly Deliveries

(XPeng) XPeng Motors announced a net loss of RMB1.194 billion or $185 million in the second quarter of 2021, higher than a loss of RMB146 million in the same period of last year.

The automaker’s revenue grew to RMB3.7 billion or $582.5 million from RMB590 million in the same quarter of 2020.

The deliveries of vehicles saw a record 228% growth in July and jumped 439% to 17,398, a record quarterly high, from 3,228 deliveries in the corresponding period last year.  

XPeng projects an increase in the deliveries of vehicles to between 21,500 and 22500 or 150.6% to 162.3% in the third quarter from the same period of the prior year.

The company also expects its revenue to grow by between 141.2% and 151.3% in the third quarter to RMB4.8 billion and RMB5.0 billion.
