(Bloomberg) Virgin Orbit Holdings Inc. says it will launch two rockets from the UK in mid-2022 as it seeks to establish a global footprint.
The company will also launch more flights from Japan in early 2023, with Brazil also earmarked as an option.
CEO Dan Hart says the company will launch one rocket from the US this week, with a total of six launches expected this year. Hart aims for an output of 20 rockets from Virgin’s Long Beach in California in 2023.
Virgin Orbit prepares to launch satellites for its three clients that include the US Defense Department and Spire Global Inc, from a Boeing 747 ground in Mojave, California, on Wednesday. The company also eyes US Space Force missions’ launch from Guam as early as 2023.
The tight schedule comes only a month after Virgin Orbit went public through a blank-check company.
