US Producer Prices Rises by an Annual Record 11% in April

(BLS) US wholesale prices jumped by 0.5% in April, a slower increase compared to 1.6% the previous month and 1.1% in February.

The smaller jump in producer prices in February took the final demand services up by an annual record pace of 11.0% in April.

The monthly rise in producer prices reflected 1.3% increase in prices of goods, while the construction prices gauge saw a 4.0% surge. The prices for final demand services remained unchanged in the month after posting a 1.2% gain in March.

Less volatile food, energy, and trade services, the producer prices increased by a monthly 0.6% in April, slower compared to a gain of 0.9% in March. The index was up by an annual 6.9%.
