US Nonfarm Labor Productivity Surges by 2.3% in Q2 Amid Cost Surges

(Bureau of Labor Statistics) Nonfarm business sector labor productivity in the US rose by 2.3% in the second quarter, which saw output rise by 7.9%, and hours worked by 5.5%. 

Compared to the second quarter of last year, labor productivity was up 1.9%.

Unit labor costs in the nonfarm payroll rose at an annual rate of 1.0% in the quarter, reflecting a 3.3% rise in hourly compensation and 2.3% uptick in productivity.

Over the last four quarters, unit labor costs rose by 0.1%, with hourly compensation up 2.0%, and productivity up 1.9%.
