(Census Bureau) US sales of new houses rose by a monthly 11.9% to reach an adjusted annual rate of 811,000 in December 2021. The sales were still 14.0% below the previous year.
For the year 2021, 762,000 new homes were sold in the US, down by 7.3% from the 2020 level.
In December, the median sales price of new houses was $377,700, with the average sales price hitting $457,300.
At the end of December, about 403,000 new houses were available for sale, representing a supply of 6.0 months at the current sales rate.
