US Crude Oil Inventories Make a U-Turn, Jumps by 2.4M Barrels

(EIA) Total commercial crude oil inventories in the US were recorded at $412.4 million barrels in the week to April 1, reflecting an increase of 2.4 million from the previous week.

Distillate fuel inventories rose by 0.8 million barrels to remain 15% below the five-year average. Total motor gasoline inventories declined by 2.0 million barrels to a level 1% below the last five-year average.

Crude imports also saw an increase, edging higher by 41,000 barrels per day in the week, to an average of 6.3 million bpd. The imports averaged 6.4 million bpd in the past four weeks, an increase of 8.9% from the prior year.

Crude refinery inputs were at an average of 15.9 million bpd in the week to April 1, up by 35,000 bpd from the previous week. Refineries operated at 92.5% capacity.

Overall, the total products supplied in the past four weeks averaged 20.4 million bpd, an increase of 5.5% from the comparable period of last year
