(Halifax) The UK registered an average housing price of 261,221 pounds in July, up 0.4% from the previous month.
On a three-month basis, UK house prices were 2.4% higher in the July quarter.
House prices rose by 7.6% in the twelve months to July, down from a surge of 8.7% in the twelve months to June, suggesting cooling prices in the market.
The housing market in July was supported by the start of the UK stamp duty holiday and market recoveries from the first lockdown.
Halifax’s managing director Russel Galley expects the housing market to maintain a solid momentum in the next few months, with slowdowns in the annual price increase.
FTSE 100 is up +0.12%, GBPUSD is down -0.21%.
