UK GDP Grows by a Marginal 0.1% in February

(ONS) UK’s gross domestic product expanded by 0.1% in February, a slower gain compared to an increase of 0.8% in January.

The services sector led the GDP increases, with a gain of 0.2%, offsetting declines of 0.6% and 0.1% in production and construction, respectively.

Consumer-facing services saw a 0.7% output growth, slower than a gain of 2.0% in January. Non-consumer facing services were unchanged, compared to a gain of 0.5% in January.

Following the February gains, UK GDP is now 1.5% above the levels before the coronavirus in February 2020. Services are 2.1% higher than the pre-pandemic level, construction is 1.1% higher, although production remains 1.9% below. 

FTSE 100 is down -0.25%, GBPUSD is up +0.10%.
