UK Consumer Price Index Eases to a 2.1% Year Over Year Increase in July

(Office for National Statistics) The Consumer Price Index in the UK was 2.1% for the year ended July 2021, a decline from 2.4% recorded in the 12 months to June.

Annual CPIH inflation eased to 2.1% in July 2021

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 2.0% in July, down from 2.5% recorded in June.

Second-hand cars accounted for a significant increase in CPI despite falling a year ago.

The easing of UK inflation came even as factory gate prices surged the most in almost a decade.

The Bank of England projects that inflation will rise by 3% in August and rise further to at least 4% in the final two months of 2021, driven by global surges in goods prices and energy. 

GBPUSD is up +0.18%, FTSE 100 is down -0.27%.
