The hospitality industry contributed 94,000 food and accommodation jobs with the reopening of the economy.
Unemployment peaked at 4.8% in the three months to May, from 4.7% in the three months for April, but down from the previous quarter rate of 5%.
The Office of National Statistics data also shows wholesaling and retailing as the other sectors adding more jobs to the economy.
Compared to last year, the average wage rose 7.3% for the quarter ended May, more than 5.7% increase in the quarter ended April.
The UK government is set to lift all restrictions by July 19 that could see more job gains.
