(Reuters) Electric car maker Tesla sold about 44,264 China-made vehicles in August, as local sales rose to 12,885 cars from July’s 8,621.
Out of the sales of China-made vehicles, a total of 31,379 were for export markets.
Tesla’s car sales in August were an increase from 32,968 in July, while the total units sold in June were 33,155.
Tesla’s sales were below China’s BYD, which sold 60,858 EVs in August but higher than General Motors China’s joint venture with SAIC Motor, which delivered about 43,783 units.
In August, China’s passenger car sales were 1.5 million, which is 14.7% below a year earlier.
